Andrew Messenger, a semi-retired dermatologist, previously a consultant at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and Sheffield Children's Hospital was instrumental in bringing this conference to Sheffield. He said:
‘I was first introduced to the Conference Ambassador Programme in 2017 by a colleague at the Sheffield Children’s Hospital, Paul Dimitri. I was writing a bid to host this conference and didn’t know which venues to include. The Conference Bureau team quickly pulled all the necessary information together, including Ministerial and local letters of support. We were bidding against St Petersburg and Moscow to host the conference in 2020. In 2018 I was told our bid was successful but then due to covid the 2020 event was postponed until this year’.
Emma France, Marketing Manager for Business Tourism at Marketing Sheffield said:
‘We are thrilled to see this meeting finally taking place three years later than planned – one of the last of our conferences that were impacted by Covid. And to have such a wealth of international delegates travelling from all over the world is fantastic- especially after Sheffield was ranked as the 7th most popular English city for international association meetings by ICCA recently. Our Conference Ambassadors continue to play a vital role in attracting these events to Sheffield and we are grateful for their ongoing support. What an opportunity to be able to showcase the wealth of expertise around this specialism across the UK here in Sheffield.’
