New food tours launch in Sheffield

18 Jul 2024

Kelham Island Food Tours have launched a new sister company Sheffield Food Tours who will be operating two new City Centre tours from the end of August.

A Taste of Sheffield
and the History and Brunch Tour will take guests on a guided walking tour of the Sheffield City Centre, incorporating food, drink, local history and culture along the way.

Kelham Island Food Tours have been hosting food tours in this popular dining destination in Sheffield since 2019 and over the past 5 years have steadily grown, employing three freelance tour guides and hosting thousands of guests.

Their flagship tours A Taste of Kelham and the Kelham Food and Beer Tour run every Saturday and have been extremely well received, usually filling up weeks in advance.

Tour Founder, Sophie Barber said: “Sheffield's City Centre is going through a period of rapid development and positive transformation, so it feels like the right time to branch out with our new City Centre food tours.

We know from chatting to our guests that many will be excited about coming back to experience our new City Centre routes”.

Sophie went onto say: “Bullion Chocolate has been a tour partner since our very first food tour in January 2019 and so it seems fitting that we're following them into the City Centre and continue to work with them at their new Leah’s Yard venue ‘Chocolate Bar’ which opens this Summer”.

More about the new tours...

A Taste of Sheffield will provide Sheffield visitors with a fun and insightful afternoon, touring five venues and taking in special landmarks and places of interest around the city centre.

Lasting about four hours, guests sample a range of different cuisines and will discover the hidden gems serving some of the best food in Sheffield.

Running twice a month, the first date open to the public is Saturday 31 August and it is now available to book via the website.

The History and Brunch Tour is hosted by local history enthusiast and retired chef Peter Mara, who will take guests on a journey right back to Norman times with tales of Sheffield Castle and the Duke of Norfolk’s time in the city and legacy.

This 3-hour tour will incorporate buildings that tell the story of Sheffield’s rich industrial heritage and provides a completely different perspective of the city centre.

The last hour of the tour is spent enjoying a delicious sit-down brunch at the Birdhouse Tea Co. This tour starts on Sunday 4 August and runs once per month.
