New Scandinavian-style wellness experience set to open in Sheffield

Street view of a dark green storefront with the name ‘Güs’ in large white letters on the upper left. To the right, text describes Güs as ‘A guided sauna experience combining hot and cold, aroma and music; designed to improve wellbeing and leave you feeling incredible.’ Two large windows reveal a cozy interior with warm lighting and shelves. A doorway on the left shows two people exiting, one holding a drink. The building has a brick upper facade and sits on a paved sidewalk.

Visitors to Sheffield city centre will soon be able to enjoy a sauna, ice bath, and Scandinavian-style café experience, as another exciting business announces they are moving into the Heart of the City development.

Güs (@gus.wellness) will be opening their first location in the former Sunday School building at 34 Cambridge Street this winter, offering a range of unguided and guided sauna and ice bath experiences. It will also be home to a Scandi-style café, giving people a space to relax and unwind.

Güs is the latest addition to the increasingly popular Heart of the City project, which has transformed a large area of the city centre, creating food, beverage, and entertainment areas, high-quality office space, and residential apartments right in the centre of the city.

The brainchild of Co-Founders and longtime friends, Rob and Chris, they wanted to create an inviting space that’s not just about hot and cold therapy, but also a place to unwind and socialize.

Having both fallen in love with the Scandinavian style of sauna and cold plunge, they felt compelled to bring that same sense of community and spirit to the UK and so, they both left their jobs earlier this year to realise their dream and bring it to life in Sheffield.

Speaking about their decision to launch the new wellness concept in the city, they said: "We took one look at Sheffield's unique energy and vibrant outdoor community and we just knew the combination was ideal for us."

"Güs is all about bringing a fresh approach to wellness in Sheffield, and we've found the perfect home in the historic Sunday School building—a beautiful blend of old character and new design. This isn't just about offering a new service; it's about creating a true community space.

"Our unguided and expertly guided sessions, which include sauna and ice bath experiences, are designed for everyone, while our café, which champions local suppliers, provides a perfect place to unwind. The fit-out is already underway, and we can’t wait to welcome you this winter."

Güs will be open in time for the festive period, but for the very latest updates on their opening, follow their journey and get exclusive behind-the-scenes insights on Instagram at @gus.wellness and to be one of the first to try it, signup for when their bookings go live, via their website at: https://guswellness.com

Tall brick building with three stories and a cream-colored ground floor facade. The upper floors have large rectangular windows with stone lintels, and the roofline features a small decorative gable with engraved text. Two people are sitting on the low ledge in front of the building, near a window with the word ‘Güs’ visible on the glass. The scene is lit by bright sunlight under a clear blue sky with wispy clouds.
