Sheffield has been named as the UK Food Capital of the UK, according to a report by hospitality provider, Accor, as they reviewed the very best locations to indulge your taste buds and identified the best spots for different cuisines.

Separating the analysis between London and the rest of the UK, Accor compiled a list of the Top 15 Cities outside of the capital, scoring each city out of 100. The locations were evaluated based on Google reviews, Michelin guide ratings, social data and sentiment.

Their data revealed Sheffield to be the Foodie Capital of the UK after achieving a weighted score of 99.
Accor said: "This city distinguishes itself as a hub for food festivals and markets. Following a thorough evaluation of Google reviews and social media engagement, Sheffield garnered an impressive score of 99 for its food festivals and a solid 71 for its food markets.

"Additionally, securing a place among the top three sought-after destinations for food tourism, this city, boasting a foodies population score of 54, can rightfully be dubbed a paradise for food lovers."

While some people may be suprised by Sheffield's ranking at number one, many will not be as the city has been steadily building a strong reputation as a foodie destination for some years now.

The Observer Food Monthly already tipped Sheffield to be their UK Foodie Hotspot for 2023 earlier this year, while Sheffield was also named 2nd best City Break destination in Europe for 2023, by TimeOut.
TimeOut were also quick to pick up this story too, saying: "After we named it one of the best places for a city break in 2023, we can concur that Sheffield is bursting with great grub. We recommend places like Joro for an indulgent blowout meal or V or V for some mouth-watering veggie and vegan stuff".
You can see how Accor ranked Sheffield against other cities in this table of results below, the full report is also available online.
