Mohsin Farmanieh and his wife Fatemeh opened Toranj in the Moor Market in June 2021. COVID-19 made it a challenging time to open a new business, but far from being held back, the pair were keen to expand into a high street shop front. Alan Ball, a Business Information Officer with Business Sheffield, supported them with this move, and they opened Toranj International Halal Supermarket in October 2021.
The Information Officers are a team of highly experienced business people who work with high-street businesses to make sure they have all the tools and support they need to thrive. Alan continues to work with them as they plan the creation of a café and restaurant on the first floor of their business.
Alan worked with Mohsin and Fatemeh to find their premises, work through the lease, and apply for permission to open the new shop. “I’m the go-to person for leases [among the Business Information Officers]”, he admits, “If businesses have a problem or something they’re not sure about in their lease, they often come to me.”
“Alan has been so supportive,” says Mohsin. “I often see him in the Moor Market helping other people too. If I’m ever in difficulties I just have one choice: call Alan and say ‘Can you do a miracle for me again?’”
Alan’s available to support businesses in the City Centre (including Moor Market), Moor Top, Dore, Totley, Wicker, Tinsley Page Hall and Shalesmoor. To contact him, email Alan.Ball@sheffieldcityregion.org.uk or call 07500900992
