Whirlow Hall Farm Trust was founded in 1979 as an educational trust working with inner city children and young people with special needs or disabilities. Since then, over 300,000 children have visited Whirlow on a daily or residential basis.
Each year, they provide an outstanding learning and developmental experience for over 11,000 children, many from disadvantaged backgrounds, and young adults with disabilities and special needs from inner city areas.

Whirlow Hall Farm is an Educational Trust which was set up in 1979 by Alan Aikin. Alan grew up in the inner city and was sent to a farm as an evacuee during the Second World War. He was so profoundly affected by his experience of farming and the countryside that years later he decided to set up a centre for all inner city children to come and experience the wonders of the countryside and develop their understanding of where their food comes from.
The farm today: Whirlow Hall Farm is a fully-functioning working farm spanning 138 acres with a variety of livestock (numbers vary from year to year) and growing spaces.
The Barn Cafe and Shop makes the most of everything the Farm produces- it doesn't get more local than this!
While the farm animals and playground are free to access, the farm also host events throughout the year, including tractor rides every weekend, children's parties, weddings, open days, comedy nights and all sorts family activities. See their website for upcoming events.
