Sheffield and Peak District Walking Group are based in Sheffield and offer professionally led walks in Sheffield and Derbyshire. The walks vary in length and although some of the walks they do are only 4 miles long, there are very few of the walks which don't have some type of challenge in them. Whether this is a steep hill, lots of stiles, muddy paths or rocky sections varies from walk to walk but any challenges that there are on each walk will always be mentioned in the Walk Description. One thing they like to do on their walks though is not rush. There is so much beautiful scenery and history to see, that they always make sure that they enjoy the surroundings as they walk along.
New members are always welcome, but they do ask that when people come on the walks that they wear adequate clothing and footwear, and bring sufficient food and drink for the duration of the walks.
They are currently arranging on average 2 walks a week all year round and below are details of what to expect on their walks.
Morning walks – at the moment these are taking place on Fridays and Saturdays, usually twice a month on both days. They are normally 4-5 miles long, and last 2 – 2.5 hours. The usual meet up time is 9.15, but sometimes they arrange what we call Breakfast walks where they meet up at 7.45 and bring some food to have a breakfast stop at around 9.
Sunday walks – these are full day walks and again they normally meet at 9.15. They usually take between 4 and 5.5 hours and are 7- 10 miles long. Experienced walkers are most suited to these walks.
Evening walks – are either sunset, twilight or torch walks depending on the time of year! At the moment these walks take place on Tuesday nights, once or twice a month.
Places on the walks are sometimes limited so booking in advance is essential. This can be done by email. A place will then be confirmed by return email. There is a charge of £3 per person for each walk.
