An Evening With Izzie Yardley At Cafe No9

03 Sep 2025 19:00 - 22:30

Izzie Yardley is a singer-songwriter attracting critical recognition as a singer, lyricist and multi-instrumentalist. She crafts detailed songs laced with imagination, emotion and beguiling complexity, which draw from British folk traditions as well as the jazz and classical music she grew up on. Captivating and unfettered live performances are earning her a rapidly growing audience, while the versatile nature of Izzie’s music has taken her to touring the UK with the likes of US-based folk band The Brother Brothers, songwriting heavyweight and guitarist for Paul Weller Matt Deighton and alt-rock duo Ida Mae. Whether solo, as a duo with Nick Pini (Laura Marling, Nick Mulvey) on double bass or with a full band including the legendary talents of Ethan Johns (Crosby, Stills & Nash, Ray Lamontagne) on drums and Luke Potashnick (The Temperance Movement) on electric, the shows are spellbindingly intimate and refreshingly honest. Other supports include This Is The Kit, Jesca Hoop, Ocean Colour Scene, Beans on Toast, Supalung (Sam Brookes), as well as festivals like The Great Escape with Bob Harris’ Under the Apple Tree. Sophomore EP ‘Pull Back The Sea‘ was released October 2024, produced by Dom Monks (Big Thief, Laura Marling, Billie Marten) and made with the support of PRS Foundation Women in Music and Help Musicians Do It Differently fund. Her publicly-funded debut EP ‘Imposter’ was released in June 2023. Also produced by Dom Monks it earned airtime from the likes of BBC Scotland, Absolute Radio and BBC Introducing. She is currently recording her debut album with Brit Award-winning producer Ethan Johns (Paul McCartney, Tom Jones, Flyte), due for release in 2025/26.

“a masterpiece of restraint” – FATEA “almost in jazz territory…distinctive style that is almost conversational but has a soulful, expressive edge. Lovely lyrics too and a smartly fluid and imaginative arrangement” – Neil March, Trust The Doc
