Caving For Adults With SEND

21 Mar 2025 1030 - 1230

Caving is an absolute favourite adventures at The Adventure Service! There’s nothing quite like squeezing through holes, scrambling over rocks, and discovering the hidden world beneath our feet.

Getting wet and muddy? That’s all part of the fun! Every cave is different—some have massive chambers, others have tight gaps to shimmy through, and there’s always a new challenge to take on.

It’s all about problem-solving, teamwork, and pushing yourself in a way that feels exciting (but always safe).

If you’re up for a proper adventure and don’t mind a bit of mud, caving is definitely one to try! Who is it for?

This session is specially designed for people with additional support needs. It’s all about having fun, building confidence, and getting stuck into a proper outdoor adventure at your own pace.

To make sure everyone has the support they need, The Adventure Service do ask that a parent or carer comes along, as they can’t provide 1:1 staffing. Plus, it’s always good to have a familiar face there to share the experience!

The Plan for the Day

Meeting Point: Giant's Hole, Buxton, S33 8WA Car Park - the car park is down a little dirt road, through a farmers gate. You haven’t gone wrong. Follow the sat nav! If you’re coming from Hathersage, it is easier to drive past the entrance, turn around and come down the track, as it is a very sharp right hand turn.

Time: 10:30am - 12:30pm

What To Wear Suitable footwear - The Adventure Service would normally recommend wellies, but walking boots will be fine if you don’t have any

Clothing - something you don’t mind getting a bit muddy. The Adventure Service will provide a caving suit for you. When you meet them there, they will kit you out with a head torch, caving suit and helmet. So don’t worry about bringing any special equipment!
