We have an international reputation as a city of makers and is renowned for its manufacturing excellence and innovation.
Understanding Sheffield as a City of Makers celebrates our strength in everything from advanced manufacturing, specialist steels, forged products, cutting tools, flanges, bearings and blades to award-winning theatre, international art and design, ground-breaking research and world class talent.
The concept grew from the Year of Making Sheffield 2016, This was a year long project in 2016 celebrating the city's heritage and forward thinking all at once. Although it's a few years ago now, the body of work and all-encompassing approach to 'making' is still hugely representative of our identity as a place.
